Word- and Picture Semantic Impairments ist eine Übertragung der Bände Lexikalisch-semantische Störungen und Bild-semantische
Störungen der Reihe Neurolinguistische Aphasietherapie in die englische Sprache. Beide Therapiebände sind in Word- and Picture
Semantic Impairments in einem Ordner bzw. in der eBuch-Fassung auf einer CD zusammengefasst. Teil 1: Word Semantic Impairments Die in dem Band Lexikalisch-semantische Störungen zusammengestellten Materialien erfassen das gesamte Spektrum lexikalisch-semantischer Störungen bei Aphasie. In 12 Kapiteln werden alle häufig von semantischen Paraphasien betroffenen Bedeutungsrelationen thematisiert: Ober-/Unterbegriff, Kohyponymie Teil-Ganzes, Bedeutungsnähe, Konzept, Assoziative Relationen, Prädikative Relationen, Objektrelationen, Instrumentelle Relationen, Qualitative Relationen, Frage-Antwort, Idiomatische Wendungen. Zu jedem Verarbeitungsschwerpunkt wird eine Serie von Arbeitsblättern mit unterschiedlichen Sprachverarbeitungswegen und -anforderungen angeboten. Es gibt rezeptive, produktive und kombiniert rezeptiv-produktive Arbeitsblätter. Der Begleittext enthält neben Überlegungen zum linguistischen und therapeutischen Hintergrund ausführliche Materialbeschreibungen zu den Schwerpunkten der einzelnen Kapitel und zu den Arbeitsblättern. Teil 2: Picture Semantic Impairments Der Band thematisiert lexikalisch-semantische Störungen im Zusammenhang mit Bildverarbeitung und ist optimal als Ergänzung zu Word Semantic Impairments verwendbar. Er enthält 250 direkt bearbeitbare Arbeitsblätter, auf denen nach Maßgabe klar definierter linguistischer Kriterien Bilder von Einzelobjekten (maximal 6 Abbildungen pro Blatt) und Wortstimuli kombiniert wurden. Aus 500 Schwarzweiß-Strichzeichnungen wurden in 9 Kapiteln unter jeweils bestimmten Verarbeitungsaspekten gezielte Kombinationen hergestellt: Kohyponymie, Teil-Ganzes, semantische Ähnlichkeit, Konzept, Semantische Felder, Situative Relationen, Homophone. Word- and Picture Semantic Impairments is a translation of two volumes of a German series for aphasia therapy into English. For the first time both therapy
volumes are offered together in one folder in the English version. The therapy volumes consist of a collection of worksheets in DIN A4 format that are supplied as a master set for copying and
which can be used directly by the patient. Besides dealing with the linguistic and therapeutic background the accompanying handbook also includes detailed descriptions to every exercise.
Part 1: Word Semantic Impairments
The material in this part was developed on the basis of new models concerning the semantic processing of words and covers the entire spectrum of lexico-semantic disorders in aphasia. All of the
semantic relations that are frequently affected by semantic paraphasias are dealt with in 12 chapters on 130 worksheets on the word level and in the context of sentences.
Every chapter has a series of worksheets with one main focus:
Superordinate/Subordinate Concept, Hyponymy, Part-of-Relation, Similarity of Meaning, Concept, Associative Relations, Predicative Relations, Object Relations, Instrumental Relations, Qualitative
Relations, Question-Answer, Idiomatic Phrases.
There are exercises with visious degrees of difficulty and of varying processing modalities. The various levels of difficulty are a result of the characteristics of the different stimuli and
their linguistic context.
Part 2: Picture Semantic Impairments
This material deals with lexico-semantic disorders in connection with the processing of pictures. It can be used very well in combination with Word Semantic Impairments even though it has
independent features.
Picture Semantic Impairments consists of 250 samples for copying which can be used directly as worksheets. They are made up of black and white line drawings of individual objects (a
maximum of 6 drawings a page) that have been combined with word stimuli on the basis of clearly defined linguistic critera.
In 9 chapters 500 drawings were specifically combined under certain aspects of processing:
Hyponymy 1, Hyponymy 2, Part-of-Relation 1, Part-of-Relation 2, Part-of Relation - Semantic Similarity, Part-of Relation - Concept, Semantic Fields, Situational Relations, Homophones.
The material is open to be used in different processing modalities. Visual-perceptual and linguistic criteria were dominant for the construction of the picture material.
